Hi, new here but have been playing on my phone(Android). I looked to see if I could play on my PC and found this site. Great. Downloaded the files and went through the readme. Can't seem to get it to install. Anybody with a walk through that might help me out. I'm not computer illiterate but this one stumps me. Thanks in advance for any help.

Simply run the GE3.exe. You will need to do a 1 time install of the VS dll pack and also the OpenAL package. The game is still in the early stages of development and is nothing like what Tap 4 Fun has made. This game has no affiliation with that company. The version you downloaded does not have MP support and is only available for testing purposes.

There are no earlier versions available. As mentioned above this is for testing only. I can be played but there isn't any load or save feature in it. It is available for people to play it and report bugs, ideas or things they would like added.

Got it. I got it somewhat installed. It wants to start but crashes. Shows me a log-in screen but when input name then go to password name disappears. It crashes shortly after that. Is there anyplace it installs to that I can uninstall? I don't see an uninstall in the package. Might be a little over my head. Too bad. I'm assuming this is in the same vain as other 4x games and I was looking for something new to play with. Thanks for your help. I'll keep an eye on this game and hopefully it becomes complete or at least beta soon.

Depends on your hardware.
Minimum requirements
4 gigs mem
Vertex Pixel shader V 3 (DX 9 fully capable) IE NVidia series 200 or higher with 1 gig of video memory or higher preferable, if you have a DX 10 or higher card it should be sufficient (see note about integrated video below)
Dual core or higher processor
If you are trying to run this on a laptop you will mostly not get it to work. Integrated video cards seem to have issues with it for some reason. One of my testers has a NVidia 570 and it seems to have a driver issue that cause severe slowdown when rendering geometry batches. I will be updating that part of the code soon (pretty old code) to use full hardware instancing.
What type of crash did you get? CTD? Also check in the root folder, there should be a log folder. If anything is in it simply attach it to this thread. Also, there is nothing to uninstall, it is a straight direct run program. I haven't added that feature in yet (as in no shortcut on the desktop, in the start menu etc.). To uninstall it simply send all of it to the recycle bin. The DLL pack installs two really small DLLs, no need to uninstall them although it might be listed in the add/remove tool (look for Visual Studio 2005 run-time DLLs). |

It just shut down and Windows told me the usual no longer working window looking for reason. I thought it might be a memory thing. I have a 1995 HP a1320n desktop upgraded with Radeon 4350 card and Windows 7. CPU is dual core w/hyperthreading at 3.06 GHz but only 2 gig Ram. I keep it clean inside and out. No big deal. Like I said I was just looking for a new game to play. I have Galactic Civilizations 1 and 2 also Sins of a Solar Empire to play. Also another 120 some odd old XP era games that run well on this computer. I'm unemployed so I have to fill a lot of down time. LOL. Good luck with this, it looks great so for from the vid's and pic's I looked at here.

I would supect a lack of memory. Every thing else you have is well within specs to run it. Just with the initial assets loaded it requires just a little over 2 gigs and typically peaks at about 3.8 during gameplay. Once it gets into the beta stage I will go through and resize the textures (the memory hog part) so that it will take up a much smaller memory footprint. Thanks for trying anyways!
